Welcome to the sculptor's studio

The sculptor opens the doors to his studio for you and gives you an insight into his work. In the basement of the workshop there is a stone sculpture area with bird baths, stone sculptures, gravestones and other stone objects. On the ground floor is the course room, on the upper floor works of wood carving art are exhibited, and on the top floor you can choose your carving blank.

A short introduction to carving

Before you reach for the carving tool yourself, the expert, an independent wood and stone sculptor and head of carving courses at the Migros Club School, will show you an approximately 15-minute film about the creation of a work of art. Afterwards you will carve a relief under his guidance. In a first step, a motif is drawn or traced on the lime board you have chosen. Then you carve the outline with the "Geissfuss" (carving knife). In order to reach different levels, carve deeper in some cases. In this way a relief is gradually created. Of course you can take the result of your carving home with you.
