Round trip in the Bernese Oberland
At the station near the boat station in Interlaken you will meet your guide and the llamas. After the welcome and some instructions, the animals are loaded and then the "caravan" sets off. The llamas are led individually or in pairs. The animals are happy to carry their rucksacks as far as possible.
The tour leads you in a first stage along the Aare to the castle ruins of Weissenau. A short stop to visit the ruin is included in the programme. From the castle you will enjoy a beautiful view towards Lake Thun. Here your guide will tell you something about the accompanying animals, the llamas. Afterwards, enjoy the beautiful Weissenau nature reserve.
The tour now leads along a beautiful hiking trail through lightly forested areas along Lake Thun to Neuhaus/Unterseen. Along the Lombach stream you will reach a small island. Here you will find an uncovered picnic area with a lakeside bump, where you can enjoy a picnic from your rucksack.
The tour can be booked as a round trip. This means that after the picnic you will march back to Interlaken with the llamas. Or you can say goodbye to the animals and the guide and start the return journey to Interlaken individually by boat or bus.
Requirements, hiking time and children
The excursion as a round trip takes four to five hours. The pure hiking time is three hours from Interlaken West to Neuhaus Unterseen.
For a successful trekking you need good footwear, sun and insect protection, clothing adapted to the weather as well as food for the journey. The maximum number of animals is six llamas.
This tour is also suitable for children from about 7 years of age. There is a reduced price for children under 15 years (see costs). Wheelchair users can also participate in the tour.
